Robopocalypse - The Musical! Nashville Theatre reviews
Stewart & Stevie put on great show at Riverbend !!
Riverbend Music Center in Cincinnati was our first trip. She placed the best possible half-dozen of her hits in a 70-minute set and included the new songs well. Stevie Nicks looked and sounded great, either solo or with Fleetwood Mac. Note to selves: Arrive at least an hour in advance next time. The video of her parents and childhood memories which accompanied 'Landslide' was a great way to close her set. We last saw Rod Stewart in 1987. The crowd (and I do mean CROWD) seemed to have a great time. He moved a great deal less, but still mixed his hits and cover songs well and displayed his winning personality in a 90-minute set. Back then, he had boundless energy and sang more than 20 songs. Having a three-hour drive ahead of us, we left our seats ten minutes early in order to beat the traffic. The crowd wanted to savor every last moment of this evening. During our half-mile walk to the car, we saw fewer than a dozen people. As for Riverbend, it is a first-class venue. He is a consummate entertainer. The only criticism is that the extra wide pillars make it nearly impossible to get a good view of the stage unless your seats are in the center section and close to the front. The lawn (turf) section was comfortable and dry. We could clearly hear the lyrics to Rod's last two songs as we made the lengthy trek to the car. Also, the abundance of vendor stands enabled the lines to remain short, even during intermission. If you remember 'Night Tracks,' you'll have a great time. In addition, the scenic view of the boats on the river at sunset provided a nice panoramic view of the bands. The sound quality was very good. This being our first visit to Riverbend, we were surprised to see that the food and beverages were very reasonably priced. Beer and soda prices were less than Indy's Verizon (now Klipsch) Music Center's 2007 prices. I took little comfort in the fact that I was more out of breath trying to reach the parking lot than was Rod singing 'Hot Legs' as his penultimate song of the evening. I would definitely recommend seeing this show. It's a feel-good trip back to the 80's with a slightly wistful journey to present day added to the mix.
